What happens when women's varied careers in the private or public sectors - as small business owners, public sector administrators, corporate managers, independent artists, human services professionals, and health practitioners - veer off course in favor of families? In 1990, the answer for a handful of Junior League colleagues was to parlay their professional training as "volunteers" into a shared business model providing consulting services to nonprofit organizations. Together, with one another's support, these women pioneered "work/life" balance, assembled their special talents to create a professional consultancy to impact and strengthen the "volunteer" sector, and formed 3rd Sector Partners.
